    • The outer roadway at Structure 87.10S is in Stage 2 which has the left lane separated from the center and right lanes by construction barrier and the workzone is to the right of all three lanes.  It will remain in this configuration until mid-December 2023.

  •  Southbound Traffic:

    • The inner roadway at both structures is currently shifted to the left to create room for shifting the outer roadway to the left to create room for work-zones. There will be no changes to the inner roadway at Structures 85.77S and 87.10S until February, 2024 and November, 2023, respectively.

    • The outer roadway at Structure 85.77S is scheduled to be shifted into its Stage 2 configuration on July 7th, as noted above. 

    • The outer roadway at Structure 87.10S was shifted into its Stage 2 configuration on June 9, 2023, having all three lanes shifted to the left with a run of concrete barrier between the left and center lane, and will remain in this configuration until November, 2023.

Stage 1 Traffic Shifts from Milepost 83 to Milepost 85

As of September 30, 2022 the two structures at milepost 84.24 and 84.55 have been shifted into their Stage 1 alignment as follows: 

· Northbound Traffic on both the inner and outer roadways was shifted to the left (West) to create a workzone on the right (East) side of the structures.  Northbound Stage 1 completion date tentatively scheduled for the end of June 2023. 

· Southbound traffic on both the inner and outer roadways was shifted to the left (East) to create a worzkone on the right (West) side of the structures.  Southbound Stage 1 completion date tentatively scheduled for the end of August 2023.

Northbound Inner and Northbound Outer Lane Shifts (Pre-Stage 1A)

April 1, 2022

The shoulders in the project area are being reconstructed. Concrete construction barriers are being placed between the inner and outer roadways on both the northbound and southbound sides. Guiderails and sign structures are being removed. This phase of construction, which is known as “Pre-Stage 1A,” is scheduled to continue into May. In order to minimize impacts on motorists, this construction is being done at night.

May 1, 2022

The reconstruction of the shoulders in the project area continues. This work is scheduled to be completed in May. Once complete, the project will shift to a new phase, “Pre-Stage 1B,” which is scheduled to continue until July. In order to minimize impacts on motorists, this construction is being done at night.

May 11, 2022

The New Jersey Turnpike SNI & SNO Roadways, Northbound Inner and Northbound Outer, respectively, will be shifted starting at MP 83.90, with a lane shift (SNO onto the Right Shoulder & SNI onto the Left Shoulder) through MP 84.55, from Monday, May 16th at 8 PM to Wednesday, July 6th at 8 PM to allow for pre-construction work to be performed to multiple bridge deck replacements. This work is expected to last Seven (7) weeks. In the event of inclement weather, this work will be rescheduled for a different date. The New Jersey Turnpike SNI & SNO Roadways, Northbound Inner and Northbound Outer, respectively, will be shifted starting at MP 83.90, with a lane shift (SNO onto the Right Shoulder & SNI onto the Left Shoulder) through MP 84.55, from Monday, May 16th at 8 PM to Wednesday, July 6th at 8 PM to allow for pre-construction work to be performed to multiple bridge deck replacements.
